Hi, I'm Sofia.
I'm the founder of Glyph, the AI tool for designing immersive learning experiences.
I'm deeply interested in the way humans learn, and how this can inform better digital educational experiences. Online learning has been restricted by historical human-computer learning formats, leading to passive training as a default. I'm exploring how we can use AI to build a more effective online education modality that taps into our neurological learning pathways and drives better outcomes.
- Previously, I was Head of Learning at BrightCarbon, a boutique communications consultancy, where I built out the enterprise learning business. I spent a lot of time thinking about how we can build training that hacks our brain's learning mechanisms. Watch my talk on the Neuroscience of Learning here.
- I spent five years developing learning programs for various F500 companies, at every stage of enterprise training. You can take the Google Cloud Digital Leader course I helped develop over on Coursera.
- I'm curious about the shift from algorithmic public feeds to intimate, encrypted spaces. I recently learned how to vibe code, and built my friends Benchletter, a private social newsletter. Please get in touch if you'd like to try it out!
- In another life, I was an underwater archaeologist. I did my undergrad and master's at Oxford, where I wrote my master's dissertation on original research on the late Byzantine tradition of ship graffiti in Albania (under Damien Robinson). I worked on excavations, some on land and most underwater, under Justin Liedwanger (Stanford), Colin Renfrew (Cambridge), Julian Thomas (Manchester), Irena Radic Rossi (Zadar), and Hristina Angelova (CUA).
- Cofounded Anthroposphere, Oxford's interdisciplinary climate magazine, now on its 10th edition.
- I ran my own freelance photography business full time alongside my master's to fund my degree. I now mostly shoot film, and irregularly update my photojournal, earthsnail. Every now and then, I dabble in brand adventure photography.
- I was born in Hong Kong, and I'm a British, Bulgarian, and New Zealand citizen. I've lived in HK, Bulgaria, Turkey, and the UK, and now spend half the year in Vancouver and the rest hopping around. My accent confuses everyone, including me.
